The US
Lawnbowling Championships got off to a great
start Saturday afternoon with the opening
ceremony and reception at Lakeview. It
featured opening remarks by Marty
Schans(incoming
USLBA president),Izzie
Forbes(outgoing USLBA president),Bill
Pearson(SCD president) and Larry Kraft.
The traditional procession of players was
led by a bagpiper. The 1st jack was
delivered by 14 year old Sean McArthur
to his dad Doug McArthur (recent HALL of
Fame inductee). Helen Teichman, who has been
a huge contributor to lawnbowling in Sun
City, delivered the 1st bowl. A reception for
players and guests was held after at the
social hall. The food and drink served was
excellent.
On behalf of the players, we want to give a
huge THANK YOU to all the
volunteers who have been and will continue
working so hard to put on this event this
week.
